ROOTS & BEYOND

Until Friday 30 November

Our Autumn season brings a vast cast of established, new and emerging voices into the heart of London’s east end – exploring some of the most relevant and resonant issues facing us today. We look at the wider world but also consider what ideas of roots, home, identity and community mean to every one of us in this constantly evolving global city.

A season highlight is Hetain Patel and Amy May’s Don’t Look, two uncategorisable, unmissable nights of films, performance and live music.

One of the hits of this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Joani Nastari’s provocative, hilarious F**k You Pay Me is an empowering celebration of East London’s community of strippers. Rooted in both hip hop dance culture and contemporary art, London artist Isaac Ouro-Gnao explores what it means to be black and British in the 21st century in The Oreo Complex.

Our music programme continues to bring incredible talent from across the globe to your doorstep. The hypnotic Manou Gallo leads a troupe of white-hot musicians to fuse reggae and deep funk, whilst the unmistakable Norwegian singer Susanna Wallumrød makes her only UK performance this year.

Proudly the home of world-renowned festivals, make sure you’re here for the stellar line-up from The 62nd BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express, Film Africa and the EFG London Jazz Festival, amongst others.

With must-see events across music, dance, performance, cinema and visual art, we’re the place to be this autumn – so make yourself at home.
