Takeover 2018: This Is Me - Exhibition

From Tuesday 7 August to Thursday 30 August
free

This Is Me features self-portraits directed by a group of young people raised in residential and foster care and is displayed with accompanying monologues. The exhibition explores the relationship between place and identity as experienced by young people leaving care in London.

Having grown up in an environment of constant uncertainty, for the participants, long-term stable relationships and a secure home are not things which are taken for granted. London, then, becomes a sanctuary of memories created in different places.

This exhibition invites individuals to discover the stories behind the statistics. Individuals who have taken part in the exhibition have been empowered by the opportunity to share their story in their own words.

The Drive Forward Foundation are keen to continue sharing their stories, which have left other young adults leaving care feeling empowered and provided the basis for a greater understanding from Londoners.
