In a nutshell
Underground live art collective Steakhouse Live is back with its most ambitious festival yet. STEAKHOUSE LIVE: LONGER WETTER FASTER BETTER presents 25 artists for three days of rowdy, sensual and provocative performances.
Taking place from October 14-16 across three London – Rich Mix, The Yard and Toynbee Studios – the pieces range from a 30sec showdown to an 8-hour irreverent re-enactment of Radio 4 Sunday broadcast. Glass will be shattered, skin will be tattooed, clothes will be set alight, paint will be thrown, hair will be singed and bums will shake.
Steakhouse Live is one of the few DIY platforms for radical performance practices. Work cuts across theatre, visual art, cabaret, sculpture, dance, drag and immersive performance. Unprofessionalism is embraced.
What to expect
A double bill of new upbeat and politically-charged works in development from Owen Parry and Rachael Young & Dwayne Antony. The Friday night ticket also gets you free entry to Queer Club Night Knickerbocker at the Yard Theatre, 10pm - 4pm.
A full day of short performances that pack a punch!
Featuring live work from Malik Nashad Sharpe, Katherine Araniello, Luke Ferris, Jade Montserrat, Selina Bonelli, Emma Selwyn and IMMA/MESS with an installation from Lucy Hutson.
Tickets to Longer Wetter Faster Better at Rich Mix on either the Friday or the Saturday night also gets you a discounted ticket to the festival Sunday at Toynbee Studios: https://www.artsadmin.co.uk/events/3939
Steakhouse Live is a collective of artists and producers creating new contexts for performance and Live Art. Founded in 2013, Steakhouse grew out of a frustration at seeing artists who were making challenging and provocative live work not getting supported and shown in the right context in London. Since then Steakhouse has produced and curated over 25 events and worked with over 120 artists.
What are people saying
'The ultimate performance event for beginners.' Exeunt Magazine
'fiercely accessible' '(Steakhouse Live) fought and screamed for the space and attention innovative artists and curators need, deserve and, in a world that prides itself on radical concepts, should be granted.' Exeunt Magazine
Why does Rich Mix matter?
'Steakhouse Live would not be where we are without Rich Mix. They make space for such a huge variety of performance forms, and make space for such a diversity of voices to be heard. The Rich Mix audience is also hugely diverse, open and warm – creating the perfect space for risk and experimentation.'
