IN A NUTSHELL
An eclectic night of spoken word, poetry and live music.
Over the past five years, Out-Spoken has grown from a small poetry night to the juggernaut that it is today, inclusive of monthly poetry workshops (Out-Spoken Masterclass) and an independent publishing house (Out-Spoken Press).
The Out-Spoken stage has been graced by everyone from MOBO award nominees to various award and prize winners, in addition to standout talent at the early stages of their careers.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Each month, Out-Spoken’s event takes attendees on an emotional journey, from wit to melancholy and everything in between; driven in the vehicles that are spoken word poetry and live music.
Whether comedic or solemn, political or cathartic, the poetry is always moving. The musical acts are eclectic; although they lean more towards hip-hop and soul past acts have included acoustic, classical, experimental and folk.
Founded in 2012 by Anthony Anaxagorou, Out-Spoken is hosted by Joelle Taylor and curated by Anthony Anaxagorou, Karim Kamar, Sam ‘Junior’ Bromfield, Tom MacAndrew and Assumpta Ozua.
