Tomorrow's Warriors presents
Tomorrow’s Warriors Jazz Jam
Sunday 8 April
In a nutshell
Join the Tomorrow’s Warriors House Band and special guests at this special Jazz Jam session, to see, hear and play alongside some of the most exciting emerging young jazz artists in the UK.
Now in its 25th year, Tomorrow’s Warriors have nurtured many of the UK’s leading jazz performers via its award-winning jazz education and emerging artists programme. As a hotbed for new jazz talent, Tomorrow’s Warriors alumni have won over 50 awards between them and pursued successful careers in the music industry, touring internationally with, among others, Rudimental, the Skatalites, Zero 7, Laura Mvula and Adele. Graduates of our development programmes include Byron Wallen, Jason Yarde, Denys Baptiste, Julie Dexter, Soweto Kinch, Andrew McCormack, Shabaka Hutchings, Eska, Zara McFarlane, Binker Golding, Nathaniel Facey and Peter Edwards.
Returning for the autumn, the 5-strong House Band will be joined by Artistic Director Gary Crosby OBE and special guests. And as an addition to the normal programme, Tomorrow’s Warriors are giving their flagship Frontline ensembles a 15 minute platform to show the world what they are made of: this month, the all-powerful Female Frontline Collective will be taking to the stage.
But just as exciting as that – this is the chance for budding musicians, tomorrow’s stars and the local community to come along with their instruments and add to the Tomorrow’s Warriors jazz jam magic. Whatever your level, whatever your taste in jazz, the Jam offers a space for audiences and musicians to get involved. Or just kick back and enjoy some of what the finest young musicians in London have to offer.
What to Expect
The Jazz Jam features live jazz music, lead by the Tomorrow’s Warriors 5-piece House Band – their flagship jazz ensemble, comprised of 5 of their most talented emerging musicians.
Musicians: Bring your instrument…and yes, we absolutely do consider voice as an instrument, so vocalists are welcome! We’ll provide the PA, the drum kit, a double bass, a piano and a fantastic house band. After a short set from the Warriors House Band, there will be opportunities for musicians and vocalists to join in the jam. Come check it out.
Audience: Bring yourselves, and bring some friends with you! It’s tough being a young musician, and so you can help by being a supportive, listening and appreciative audience! Come along and bring your friends. It’s a very family friendly event, and a great Sunday afternoon out.
Tomorrow's Warriors 5-strong House Band will be joined by Artistic Director Gary Crosby OBE, their rising female collective and special guests from their older development group, The Residents.

'I can’t believe the standard of these Jazz Jam guys. Such an amazing display of music talent, and passion. Blown away by the chance to hear great and interesting jazz, on a Sunday afternoon in a really comfortable and welcoming space.' Audience Member.
Why does Rich Mix matter?
'Rich Mix is the beating heart of the community – a space in which people can explore, discuss, learn and engage with their own and others’ lives, through a vibrant and inspiring programme of cultural activity. Rich Mix matters, because art and culture do. Because, between them, they are the key to understanding ourselves and others, at home and away.'
