In a nutshell

Day 1 of the the UK’s leading AV festival.

Go on...

The worlds leading AV artists, electronic musicians, visual artists and VJs perform alongside the most exciting emerging and underground talent.

What to Expect

Stunning audio-visual performances including live cymatics, acid based 3D animation vs organic and graphical 2D visuals with live electronic music in the form of leftfield techno, indie with whispers of jazz, beatboxing, and the deep totemic rhythms known as Welsh futurism.

Who's Involved

Matthew Herbert (AV)

In a new audio-visual project in response to Brexit, pioneering electronic musician Matthew Herbert presents an exclusive commission for Splice in collaboration with media artist Christopher Thomas Allen (The Light Surgeons). The performance will examine the things we will lose as a result of Brexit and it’s impact, by exploring the themes of scale and destruction through the medium of sound and image.

Leila (AV)

i am leila
leila likes noise
and all the stuff within and in between.

Reeps One : Vocal Vibration and Cymatics Showcase (AV)

Reeps One is award-winning musician, artist, champion beatboxer and Londoner Harry Yeff. For Splice Festival, Reeps One performs his critically acclaimed AV show featuring the live cymatic images of Zach Walker.

Petwo Evans (AV)

Using salvaged sounds, including tumble dryers, water bottles and even stones to create chilly atmospheres and totemic rhythms, Petwo Evans perform what they describe as “Welsh futurism”.

Orka (Live Set) + L’Aubaine (VJ)

London based electronic duo Orka's live show is focused on just hardware, with no laptops on stage they perform with a range of homemade electronic instruments. Accompanying them with 2D painting like organic and graphical visuals will be Swiss video artist L'aubaine.

Loraine James (Live Set) + ID:Mora (VJ)

North London native Loraine James is an up-and-coming producer and electronic artist who blends organic textures via inorganic means through electronica, math-rock style of indie with whispers of jazz. Accompanying her will be Czech video artist ID:Mora with a 3D animated trip where politics, economies and religion are all melted down into a visual assault.

Amelie Duchow : Tonstitch (AV)

Based on the creation of a 'sonorous' dress, German artist Duchow performs her project Tonstitch where sound parameters relate directly to the imaginary dress construction. Characteristics of its shape are determined by the audio composition.
