Shapla Salique is one of Britain’s most successful British-Bangladeshi artists, and is famed for her original, powerful and emotionally-charged performances that have captivated and inspired audiences throughout the world. Shapla’s spiritual haunting melodies and soaring vocals are gaining her recognition on the world music scene. Her music reaches people of all ages and backgrounds.
Shapla continues to push boundaries with her musical talent and brings her own brand of uniqueness to Rich Mix - an exquisite blend of East and West. To mark Bangladesh Independence Day, Shapla and her jazz band perform Bengali folk music with a dynamic twist.
What to Expect
Shapla and her Jazz band will be performing material from her latest album, No Boundaries, exploring the rich musical heritage of her native Bengali origins combined with her distinct and original compositions. Shapla is on a mission to bridge the boundaries between the two cultures, and hopes to help Bengali Baul music to evolve by introducing international audiences to its rich tradition. Her aim is to make it global.
