In a nutshell
Perhaps Contraption invite you to the celebrate the launch of their new album, Mud Belief, for a night of intricate compositions, avant-garde oompah and absurd performance.
The troupe will present the whole of this fierce, iconoclastic new album, along with some specially arranged aural treats just for the launch. Signed copies will be available on the night.
What to expect
This 9 piece, progressive brass band have built up a cult-like following performing in places as diverse as Glastonbury Festival, The London Jazz Festival, Aldeburgh Festival, Southbank Centre and various support slots with Amanda Palmer. Their intense performances also won the Haizetara International Street Music Prize (Spain) in 2014 and 2015.
Part chamber orchestra, part choir, part experimental marching band, their sound is something like Steve Reich meeting Frank Zappa and Sufjan Stevens in a punk jazz collision; staggering through a fairground – beautiful and astonishing.
Support comes from the astonishing He Was Eaten By Owls who blend detailed math rock with post-punk, chamber music and jazz.
Tell Tale Tusk will also present a beguiling array of folk songs old and new. With their signature 3 part vocal harmony, they interweave guitars, melodious fiddle, as well as some unique a cappella arrangements.
This event is wheelchair accessible.
