Open The Gate Festival is a 12 hours event with live music on stage, family workshops and The African Market.
East-London based cultural organisation Open The Gate celebrates another year of amazing events with a 12 hours non-stop Festival featuring some of the finest LIVE acts on stage, drumming, dance and arts workshops and activities surrounded by the famous Open The Gate's The African Market... and FREE ENTRY all day long from midday to midnight!
What to Expect
The festival will open with a 2-hour free drumming workshop with the talented Nadia and Drumsong at 12 noon for children and grown-ups alike!
Live music will kick off at 2.30pm, with an acoustic performance from Asingjay (Uganda). It will be followed by Jazz guitarist, harmonica player and singer Muntu Valdo from Cameroon and his very unique melodies and performance.
At 4.30pm, Ese & The Vooduu People will enlight the stage and get you with her electric soul. Then, we'll welcome the immensely talented Tibio & Dub Troubles.
We'll get you on your dancing feet with Dubhouse Band and their guests singers Tasha Love, Strika and more. Back to the heart of Africa with Djembe Thunder from Mali, and then Beoogo Yinga from Burkina Faso.
And to close off the wonderful festivities, we are very proud to present Yaaba Funk and their vibrant Ghanaian funk-jazz fusion.
