In a nutshell

Oligarkh bring Electo-beats, Orthodox chants, Russian folk and historical Soviet footage to meet in a dark electronica AV spectacular from St Petersburg to London

Go on...

Drawing together contemporary urban culture, deep folk memory and Soviet experiences, Oligarkh's music erases the borders between high and popular culture, ancient and modern.

Debut album Zemlya i Volya (Land and Liberty) in 2013 was described as 'an abstract-orthodox mix of spiritual, folk, chanson and lyrical music framed by solid bass bells, 8-bit balalaika and broken rhythms'. Oligarkh's live gigs are augmented with a drummer and video collages from historical films, documentaries, fairytales and old TV clips. Together they create a journey through the Russian collective conscious, from grand cathedrals to remote villages, from suburban ghettos to the enclaves of the rich.

What to Expect

Beats, arresting visuals, orthodox chants and some beautiful folk samples.
