In a nutshell
A killer double-bill from the Good Music Company - presenting progressive and fresh talent that spins out from jazz into a space with a genre and style of its own.
From studying the old masters in New York jazz clubs, to his work as musical director for Lauryn Hill and Meshell Ndegeocello, to becoming a pivotal part of David Bowie’s music in the album ‘Blackstar’, Brooklyn native and Grammy-winner Jason Lindner’s career spans a range of creative influences. Now vs Now sees Lindner’s experimentation with live electronic music pushed to a new level; bringing together hip-hop, dub and electronica-influenced beats, and Latin and Eastern musical languages to produce an inspiring universe of sound from this virtuosic, analogue art rock trio.
Kneebody draws upon influences spanning D’Angelo’s ‘Voodoo’ to music by Elliott Smith, Bill Frisell, and Miles Davis. Their live shows are known for intense sonic landscapes of the Radiohead ilk, for the rhythmic bombast of a Squarepusher or Queens of the Stone Age show, and the harmonic depth and improvisational freedom experienced at a Brad Mehldau concert.
