In a nutshell
Springs’ comely alto touches upon soul, jazz and pop, transforming her influences into a personalized sound that effortlessly reveals itself.
Every so often a new singer emerges who’s able to assimilate multiple musical touchstones and still come off sounding remarkably fresh and unburdened by the past. Kandace Springs is one of those artists. The Nashville-based singer, songwriter and pianist counts Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Roberta Flack and Norah Jones as her heroes, but as evidenced by her sparkling Blue Note debut record Soul Eyes, she mimics none of them.
The EFG London Jazz Festival is produced by Serious, one of the UK’s leading producers and curators of live jazz, international and new music. Serious produces events ranging from major concerts, festivals and national and international tours through to learning and participation programmes, conferences and specially commissioned bespoke events.
