WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
Rory Kinnear (The Threepenny Opera, Penny Dreadful, Othello) is Karl Marx and Oliver Chris (Twelfth Night, Green Wing) is Friedrich Engels in this kooky new comedy written by Richard Bean and Clive Coleman.
TELL ME MORE (DON'T WORRY, NO SPOILERS)
It's 1850, and Europe’s most feared terrorist (Rory Kinnear) is hiding in Dean Street, Soho.
Broke, restless and horny, the thirty-two-year-old revolutionary is a frothing combination of intellectual brilliance, satiric wit and child-like emotions. Creditors, spies and rival suitors for his beautiful wife all circle like vultures.
Finding his writing blocked and his marriage dying, his only hope is a job on the railway. His closest friend and confidant Friedrich Engels (Oliver Chris) despairs at his wasted genius.
But there’s still no one in the capital who can draw you into a better night on the piss than Karl Heinrich Marx.
Directed by Nicholas Hytner, this rib-tickling production reunites the creative team behind the Broadway and West End hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors.
