In a nutshell

An afternoon of sharing dance films about health & wellbeing created and produced by children and young people from East London.

Go on...

The pupils of Ellen Wilkinson Primary School, Marion Richardson Primary School and Gallions Primary School have been busy – in front of and behind the camera, as storyboard creators, performers and filmmakers!

Over the Spring Term 2018, and with a little help from the Challenge 59 team, Year 1, 3 and 4 pupils from the Primary School's have been exploring themes around health & wellbeing within their communities, using dance and film to make their very own broadcast-quality short dance films with a health message. This event celebrates the outcomes of their journeys and brings communities from the education, youth, health and arts sector together for a screening of their 60-second films.

Who's Involved

Challenge 59 is a dance and film project directed by Jo Rhodes and co-produced by East London Dance. The project empowers primary school children and their teachers to actively engage with health and wellbeing issues within their communities through the use of dance and film. Predicated upon a fast food restaurant promising to serve customers within 59 seconds, Challenge 59 asks: what else could be done in 59 seconds that can empower children to reclaim their health and take responsibility for their lifestyle choices?

Why does Rich Mix matter?

'Rich Mix is a supporting partner of Challenge 59 through the Dance Enterprise Ideas Fund.'
