A mini dance festival where everyone can discover a style and try it on and enjoy the diversity of the community.
Floor Rippers Call Out is back! For those who don’t know Floor Rippers, this is your chance. Floor Rippers is an event that brings live funk music and breakdance competition on the same plate. If you haven't been to any Floor Rippers events before, come down and get to know!
What to expect
Five invited dancers of 5 different disciplines (Popping, House, Waacking , Hip Hop and Bboying) will be challenged by a contender who signed up. Each battle will last 10 minutes and there will be no judge. The residents will be ready to take on any challenger who’s up for testing their skills by Calling them Out. Resident Floor Rippers' live band will be playing throughout the Call Out battles. Expect to see everything from Bollywood, to Salsa, to Afrobeat - Call Out is a unique opportunity to bring together different dancers through showcases, short workshops, live performances, food, and drink.
Brooke / Call Out - popping
Brooke specialises in the funk styles of popping and locking and is a former international level trampolinist. Brooke is the choreographer and lead dancer of PLAGUE dance company and a key member of the FUNKSTYLERZ
Troy / Call Out - house
Troy graduated from a Russian ballet school and has begun to fuse his ballet and contemporary technique with his house dancing, giving him a unique style in house dance scene today. Recent credits: Champion the best//Free you soul (judge)/ Get Hype « Circle Burners » /U.K. Bboy championship/Juste Debout London
Kashmir / Call Out - hip hop
Started dancing in April of 2006, with groups such as Broken Silence, Black Mafia and BBoysAttic. After a year and a half Kashmir earned his first professional job with 2Faced Dance Company, becoming one of the eight core members of the show 'State of Matter' which toured nationally.After leaving 2faced Kashmir created The Smash Bro'z HipHop Collective (2009) with Aundre Brown and Jahmai Jones.
Mlle Ginger / Call Out- Waacking
Ginger aka ‘Mademoiselle Ginger’ started dancing at the age of 7 when she moved from France to London studying Ballet, Tap, Modern and later on Street Dance. In 2009 she discovered Waacking and became a founding member of The Waacktitioners (the first ever UK Waacking Cew).Through Waacking, Ginger fell in love with teaching and performing all over again. Her workshops and classes bring a unique energy and are always a hit. Ginger has also discovered the battle scene through Waacking leading her to compete in Europe and the U.S earning a notable collection of titles along her way.
Silent Man / Call Out - Bboying
Ready to get challenged!
Cori D / Workshop - Afrobeat
Professional choreographer, dancer and model of 27 years old from Cameroon. She is now based in London. She is specialised in styles such as modern african dances (afrobeat) breakdance, dancehall. She has choreographed and danced for artists such as fuse odg, izzy bizu, patoranking, wande coal, Sean Tizzle, 2face Idibia, awilo longomba and many more.
Neha Banik / Workshop - Ghungroo Bollywood
Neha specialises in teaching one to one and group lessons with students of all ages in dance forms such as Bollywood, Indian folk, Indian contemporary and semi-classical. She has choreographed dances for weddings, engagement parties and other events, allowing students to showcase their talent.
