In a nutshell
A showcase of dance works developed by artists during an international dance exchange between the UK and Belgium.
1000 Pieces Puzzle is the culmination of an international exchange programme of the same name presented by Cindy Claes Productions, Zinnema and East London Dance.
All performances have been created by 30 artists from both the UK and Belgium during a 12-day period of working together to explore technique, choreography and dance film whilst developing entrepreneurial and leadership skills.
Taking place over 6 days in Brussels and a further 6 days in London this unique dance exchange culminates in a one-off series of collaborations between this eclectic group of dance professionals with backgrounds in Afrobeats, Dancehall, Krump, House, Hip Hop, Contemporary and many other dance styles.
Created in 2014 by dance backpacker Cindy Claes (ADAD Trailblazer 2013-14) 1000 Pieces Puzzle is the culmination of a unique professional development opportunity for dance artists offering two creative residencies in London and Brussels.
What to Expect
1000 Pieces Puzzle sees the world premiere of a series of unique dance collaborations performed live alongside brand new dance films, all created by some of the most exciting up-and-coming dance artists working today.
With influences from Afrobeats, Dancehall, Krump, House, Hip Hop, Contemporary and more, this one-off evening promises to be a vibrant and explosive showcase of some of the most expressive dance styles around.
These scratch performances have been created by 30 dance artists from the UK and Brussels as part of an international dance exchange programme presented by Cindy Claes Productions, Zinnema and East London Dance.
1000 Pieces Puzzle will be performed by 30 artists from the UK and Brussels who have taken part in the accompanying international dance exchange.
Cindy creates artistic earthquakes with her Dancehall, Krump, and Hip Hop Theatre Productions. Choreographer, Performer and Dance Story Teller, she builds unique international dance exchanges and educational leadership programs, raising awareness about social responsibility. Her i dance exchanges enable diverse voices to be heard, whilst nurturing leadership within varying street dance communities.
Brussels-based venue Zinnema is an experimental organisation where talent and values are challenged to evolve and inspire. It is a professional home for creative projects, and a platform for collaboration and artist development.
East London Dance
East London Dance is the leading producer of creative dance experiences for the people of East London and beyond. They produce inspirational dance projects and events, and nurture the next generation of artists, growing one of the most diverse and vibrant dance communities in the country.
