UEL (University of East London) presents an exhibition of student work, in partnership with Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts). Curated by Teresa Cisneros, Education Curator – Iniva. The works in the exhibition were selected by Rich Mix, Diversity Art Forum, Rahila Haque from Hayward Gallery, Southbank Centre, Iniva and the University of East London. Artists in the exhibition are: Beatriz Acevedo, Joshua Brown, Marta Maria Ceynowa, Mike Clarke, Aaron Coe, Samuel António, Frazão Ferreira, Miguel Ivorra, Isabell Metsapelto, Melaina Neal, Luke Noel, Konstantinos Noulis, Larry Poulton, Riccardo Raspa, Karolin Schwab, Agnes Stasiauskaite and Charles Woodward.

Over the last year as a society we have been treated to revolutions, recessions, social media polemics, movements, and many more newsworthy experiences.  The selected artists in this exhibition have in their own way responded to the world around them and how it shapes their approaches and subject matter in art.

What does it mean to be a practicing student of art in an international city such as London?  The selected artworks by UEL students are an indication of what this means.  Artworks range from installations to performances along with painting and large scale photographs.  What unites the works is their engagement in subject matters that respond to experiences of living in a thriving urban environment exploring subjects such as subcultures, architecture, abstract spaces, identity and isolation.
