Palm Wine is the seductive guitar driven roots of West Africa’s High Life and Afrobeat music. Today we stop off in Freetown Sierra Leone for a lush acoustic excursion of this heady brew with the illustrious guitar hero and band leader Abdul Tee-Jay. He soaked up the palm wine music of the legendary S.E. Rogie as a child in Freetown and started playing the guitar at the age of 9. He expanded his guitar playing skills in the USA, taking in hillbilly, blue grass and the blues along the way. Abdul has reworked and revitalised classic Palm Wine tunes and created genius new versions for his Palm Wine A Go  Go album. Oh Yes Mr Rokoto hisself is in the house

And it gets even better! We finish off our Mwalimu Express session with a Screenstation showing of:

Reel Lives Sierra Leone – starring the wonderful and indeed our favourite storyteller and musician Usifu Jalloh who takes us on an inspiring journey through a day in the life of Freetown children. Get ready for a bit of interaction with this delightful film.
