A Portrait of British Sub-Culture

Thu 3 May - Sun 3 June 10am - till close
Mezzanine Gallery

Private View: Thu 3 May / 6pm / Mezzanine Gallery / Rsvp jessica.loveless@richmix.org.uk

A mix of celebrity, gangland, strippers and the wild and wonderful man on the street; the exhibition, and accompanying book, celebrates Britain's rich and subversive tableau of sub-cultures in an Olympic year when all eyes are focused on what makes Britain truly great.

Incorporating music, fashion art & film - our greatest exports –Paul Spencer captures the edge and essence of cult with his oily blue-green otherworldly portraits and atmospheric black & white documentary images of rare and unseen photography including: Mods, punks, strippers, bikers, outlaws, gangsters, fashion, film, theatre, music, Britpop, jazz, ska, cult magazines, Tank Girl, Stockbridge, Lydon, Simonon, Albarn, Hewlett, Carlyle, Costello, Morrissey. We hope the collection will sum up the lifeblood of a Britain so often overlooked.

A quality linen-covered hardback book (published by subversive Unbound) will accompany the exhibition: A collectible limited edition, signed treasure. Books and prints will be available for sale throughout the event.
